Current Series

Knowing your forever can shape your today.  The questions we have about life after death—Is there a heaven? Am I good enough? What if I’m not?—can leave us wondering. But that doesn’t mean we have to live in fear.  Discover why our ideas of life after death could change everything—forever.

September 1st - 29th, 2019

Too often we become prisoners to thoughts telling us to worry, or telling us that we aren’t good enough, or that we can’t ever change our behavior. Join us in MASTERMIND, a series designed to shine a light on the dark strongholds that hold us down. Through the healing power of Christ and practical focused thinking practices we can renew our minds and be transformed for the better forever.

I Choose

August 4th - August 25th, 2019

We are shaped by many factors: our genetics, experiences, relationships, perceptions, and beliefs, to name a few; but our choices matter far more than we realize.

July 14th - July 28th, 2019

In this world, we will have struggles. We will face opposition. We will be challenged. And there’s a reason for that: this world is not our home.  Jesus calls us to answer hate with love, find joy in the midst of difficulties, and rely on a strength beyond ourselves.  Jesus called us to be … DIFFERENT.

The Time Is Now

June 23rd - July 7th, 2019

During this 3 week series we will look at the Old Testament book of Haggai. Together we will be challenged to learn and grow by some of the same things that God used to challenge ancient Israel. We will find out that we need to do some of the same things to honor God with our lives that God's people needed to do to honor Him thousands of years ago.

What Would Jesus undo?

May 26th - June 16th, 2019

If Jesus walked into our church today, what would he be pleased by? What would he want to change? If Jesus observed your life today, what would he be pleased by? What would he want to change? During this series, we will be challenged to consider the ways in which we live out our faith, and what things Jesus would want us to change.

Bad Advice

April 28th - May 19th, 2019

“How did I end up here?”  There are reasons behind every mess we get ourselves into.  It seems almost as if we were following bad advice, but isn’t there something deeper going on?

April 14th - 21st, 2019

In this two part series, we untangle the question of the meaning of life, by looking at the very epicenter of our faith, the crucifixion and resurrection!

March 24th - April 7th, 2019

Following Jesus isn’t primarily defined by agreement to a set of beliefs but rather by modeling our lives and decisions after his example, and He calls us to a radical way of living.

March 3rd-17th, 2019

You’re not part of a moment, you’re part of a movement!  God invites you into a movement that makes a difference forever.

The Vow

January 6th - 27th, 2019

If we want to follow Jesus, it is going to be less about us and more about him.  In this series, we are going to look at 4 topics to help us get our focus lifted off of self and onto something bigger and better.

First Things First

December 30th, 2018

What is most important in your life will determine your whole life.

God With Us

December 2nd - 23rd, 2018

Mary was told to name her miraculously conceived child, “Immanuel—"God with us”.  The whole Bible tells us the story about the lengths God is willing to go to in order to make sure we can experience him if we want to.  The story culminates with the person who makes God’s presence available always.  In a relationship with Jesus, we are assured that God is with us in every moment, on the Mountaintops, in the Valleys, in the Wilderness, in the Storm, Always.

be thankful

November 4th - 25th, 2018

Everyone interprets reality. Why do some people think life is good and others not so much?  Human beings tend to drift downward into cynicism and negativity.  We don’t drift upward.  Thoughts feed the soul.  When we seek what is good, we will see what is good, and experience lift instead of drift.  God has given us so much that we have every reason to BE THANKFUL.

Divine Direction

October 7th -28th, 2018

You haven’t finished your life story. What will you do with the blank pages?  Why not look to the author of life for some divine direction for your “happily ever after” story?

The Moral of the Story

September 2nd - 30th, 2018

We all love a good story.   Jesus, a master teacher, was a master story teller.  Jesus used stories frequently.  His stories usually made one main point.  Welcome to our series, “The Moral of the Story” where we learn from a few of Jesus’ great stories.

When The Devil Knocks

August 12th - 26th, 2018

Jesus has been given all authority.  He has authorized, deputized, equipped and empowered his children to reign in his authority and live in his victory.

better together

Living in community is one of the primary tools that God uses to care for His people.

When I Need A Miracle

July 1st - July 22nd, 2018

There is much more to life than what our five senses experience.

God Never Said That

June 3rd - June 24th, 2018

We love offering little nuggets of advice, support, or sympathy. They come in handy when we want people to feel better. But what if the guidance you’re giving or receiving just isn’t true? What if God Never Said That?

This four-week series tackles common myths about God, like “God wants you happy” or “God never gives you more than you can handle,” and how those myths keep us from having a deeper relationship with Him.

prayer Challenge

May 6th - May 27th, 2018

It is NOT praying “the right words” that makes prayer work, but learning how to pray in such a way that we connect with and align ourselves in God’s life, kingdom, and authority.

Grace is Greater

April 8th - April 29th, 2018

Grace is God’s plan to overcome your past, redeem your pain, and rewrite your story.

Know for Certain

April 1st, 2018

Secular historians all agree that Jesus lived and died.  That isn’t the question.  The question for today is whether Jesus died and lived!

Saved People Serve People

March 4th - March 25th, 2018

Salvation is a gift of a thriving life from Jesus Christ who satisfies us, changes us, and blesses us, so that we can serve and bless others even as Jesus blessed and served us.

Me And My Big Mouth

February 4th - February 25th, 2018

Words are powerful. They can beat us down and lift us up. They wound and they heal.  In this series, “Me and My Big Mouth” we will find help to establish new patterns of grace-fueled thoughts and speech.

Don't Do Life Alone

January 7th - January 28th, 2018

Don’t do life alone.  A small group of people committed to helping one another take steps to follow Jesus is one of God’s most potent prescriptions for a thriving life.

Get Started

December 31st, 2017

Is it the fear of failing that causes us to not begin?  That is interesting because here is something we know:  We can never finish the things we never started.

I Am Jesus

December 3rd - December 17th, 2017

In the “I AM Jesus” series, we focus on a few of the audacious claims Jesus made; claims like “before Abraham was born I am”, and “I am the Good Shepherd”, and “I am the light of the world”.  The religious elite of Jesus’ day were correct when they thought only God can rightfully make such claims, but they were wrong to have Jesus killed.  Darkness can never snuff out the light!   Jesus lives and continues to say, “Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

Money Matters

November 5th - November 26th, 2017

People get awkward when churches talk about money.  Audiences do.  Preachers do too.  We hope to have some fun with "Money Matters" because money is fun...if you have some.  This series is designed to help us each have less stress and more fun when it comes to personal finances.

bold prayers

October 8th-October 29th, 2017

Have you been praying too many vague, generic, wimpy prayers, and you don’t feel all that motivated to pray?  If so, then welcome to “Bold Prayers”, a 4 week series where we learn from people in the Bible who prayed bold prayers and saw God move in amazing ways!

Wonderful Counselor

September 10th-October 1st, 2017

Long before Jesus was born the prophet of old said he would be called “wonderful counselor”.  A wonderful counselor is good at listening and asking great questions that help us.  In this series we are looking at the great questions Jesus asked that helps us understand ourselves.  In this series Jesus asks us, "Why are you so afraid?”, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?”, "Do you want to get well?”, and "Why do you doubt?"

August 13th-September 4th, 2017

The Bible is full of frequently quoted wisdom, but sometimes this “wisdom" is distorted when taken out of context. What happens when the most important message of all gets distorted?

A Way Out

Temptation is the seductive little voice that twists what you want into what you need. It distorts your thoughts until you’re trapped—and when you’re trapped by temptation, it’s not the time to listen to yourself. Learn to put your trust in someone who knows A Way Out. God always gives us a way out.

Go. READY. Set.

June 25th-July 9th, 2017

Jesus says my priority is not religion, or ritual. My priority is rescue! My mission statement is this: I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners. I am more interested in rescuing than in anything else!

Jesus extends the invitation to you. Will you take a baby step to follow him? He isn’t telling you to fix it first. Jesus is saying very clearly, “I want you to know, you are the one I’ve come to invite. I came for you. Will you follow me?” This is an invitation to a relationship.

PG-Parental Guidance

May 14th-June 18th, 2017

Some of the most significant ways that Christians can impact the world around us is in the way we raise up the next generation. In this series we talk about some ways that parents can maximize their effectiveness in the lives of their children. We also will talk about how all of us (parents or otherwise) have a role to play in impacting young people to further God's kingdom.

April 23rd-May 7th, 2017

Religion is about God. It is second hand and is mediated through another. We are wired for more. Relationship on the other hand is intimate and is about knowing God personally, directly, and experiencing him in awesome ways. We are meant to be in relationship with God.

April 2nd-16th, 2017

Do you believe history is a planned and purposeful story or a series of random events that are recorded by historians? Through this series we talk about becoming thoroughly convinced that history has within it a planned and purposeful story—HIStory! The most important story we know, the story of Jesus.

March 5th-26th, 2017

Believing in God is not always an easy thing. When God doesn't act in the ways that we expect Him to, it can be discouraging, confusing, and painful. Sometimes it can shake our faith in significant ways. In this series, we address some of those ideas and talk about how to move forward when we face those moments and how to develop a healthy understanding of God's character.

Three Keys

February 12th-26th, 2017

No matter who you are you probably have a number of people in your life that you might describe as being "closed off." Maybe they have shut down in relationships. Maybe they have decided they want nothing to do with God. In this short series, we talk about three specific keys that God uses (and wants his people to use) that have an ability to unlock even the most closed off heart.

Joyful New Year

January 1st-February 5th, 2017

There is a big difference between the definition of "Happy" which is based on happenstance, whatever happens to you, and "Joyful," which is not based on happenstance but upon our ability to approach life through the tools that God has given us to see our circumstances through a new lens. This series is about hope for the future even when you feel anything other than hopeful.

Fear Not

December 11th-December 18th, 2016

What is Verde Valley Christian Church all about? Through this series, we talk all about discovering the things that God is calling us to, and stepping forward to join the mission.

September 4th-October 16th, 2016

Through this series, we explore the notion that there really is a way to move closer to the with-God life. Though training, discipline, and practice we can position ourselves to be transformed by the Holy Spirit in all kinds of ways.

Major Messages from Minor Prophets

July 24th-August 28th, 2016

Through this series, we look at 5 prophets from the Old Testament. They may be ancient, but their messages hold striking application and importance for us today.

Dating, Love, & Marriage

June 19th-July 17th, 2016

Through this series we discover that God's word actually gives some important guidance to an area of life that so many of us seem to struggle through. We can experience joy and health in our relationships when we understand some key truths from the bible.

May 22nd-June 12th, 2016

Exhausted. Overwhelmed. Over-scheduled. Confused. All too often those are the words we use to describe the kinds of lives that we live each day. God has a different way in mind for us. A better way. A way to uncluttered our souls.

Here to heaven

April 10th-May 15th, 2016

March 20th-April 3rd, 2016

We spent three weeks during the Easter season to talk about Jesus, the cross, the resurrection and what it all means for us.

Apprentice of Jesus (Life On The Rock)

January 10th-March 13th, 2016

The idea of living a life surrendered to God is, in many ways, much easier to talk about than to actually do. Amazingly however, we have a master teacher in Jesus who wants to help us follow his example as we continue to move toward a life transformed by God.
